PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OXANDROLON BALKAN
Oxandrolone is a steroid anabolic. It penetrates the cell nucleus and activates the cell's genetic apparatus, resulting in increased synthesis of DNA, RNA and structural proteins, activation of tissue respiration chain enzymes, oxidative phosphorylation, ATP synthesis and accumulation of macroelements within the cell. Stimulates anabolic and inhibits catabolic processes caused by glucocorticoids. Increases muscle mass, reduces fat deposits, improves tissue trophicity and promotes calcium deposits in bones. Shows low androgenic activity.

Violations of protein synthesis, cachexia of different origin; injuries, extensive burns, after infectious diseases and radiation; muscle dystrophy, osteoporosis, negative nitrogen balance in corticosteroid therapy, hypo- and aplastic anemia.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION AND DOSES
Adults: doses are selected individually. The usual doses for adults are 2.5-20 mg per day, divided into 2-4 doses.Children: the recommended dose is ≤ 0.1 mg/kg/day. The duration of treatment is usually 2-4 weeks. If necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated in 1-2 months.
SIDE EFFECTS OXANDROLON BALKAN
In women - symptoms of virilization, acne, menstrual cycle disorders.
In men: in the prepubertary period - symptoms of virilization, acne, slowdown or termination of growth (calcification of epiphysisal growth zones of tubular bones); in the postpubertary period - gynecomastia, priapism, suppression of spermatogenesis.
In men and women - atherosclerosis progression, peripheral edema, liver dysfunction, changes in leukocytic formula, pain in long tubular bones.
CONTRAINDICATIONS OXANDROLON BALKAN
Hypersensitivity to the drug, prostate cancer, breast cancer in men, breast carcinoma in women with hypercalcemia, CHD, marked atherosclerosis, hepatic and renal failure, acute and chronic prostatitis, pregnancy, breastfeeding.
ADVANTAGEMENT
Cases of overdose have not been registered.
PRECAUTIONS AND APPLICATION FEATURES
When the first signs of virilization in women (coarsening of the voice, hirsutism, acne, clitoromegaly), the administration should be stopped to prevent irreversible changes. Periodically check lipidemia and cholesterol levels.
For children, the drug should be prescribed by an experienced specialist to prevent premature ossification of epiphysis of bones.
